These amendments clarify certain existing drug-testing program provisions and definitions. Additionally, the requirement for employers and Consortium/Third Party Administrators to submit blind specimens is removed.The "Opiates" category was renamed "Opioids" and as of January 1st, 2018, the DOT requires confirmation testing for 14 drugs under a 5-panel test.

383.73 Regulatory Guidance was issued clarifying that State Driver Licensing Agencies (SDLAs) may agree to facilitate the commercial learner's permit (CLP) application process and to administer the commercial driver's license (CDL) general knowledge test to individuals who are not domiciled in the State.
